This attractive young couple from Higginsville, Missouri posed for their wedding photograph for photographer R. Alex Wells in the 1890's. The unidentified couple seem happy and relaxed, and are both wearing wedding rings. I'm not sure why the photographer posed them the way he did, separated by a small table with a plant, but it certainly showcased the bride's lovely figure and beautiful white wedding gown and headdress. She is truly made a serene, lovely bride.
I had no luck finding any information on the photographer, R. Alex Wells, although there are a few of his photographs to be found on Google.
R. Alex Wells is listed in the Oklahoma City, OK, city directory in 1913, his business being photos, situated at 129 1/2 West Main. They are listed in Oklahoma City directories well into the 1920's.
ReplyDeleteThe 1910 US Census shows R. A. Wells, age 39, Photographer, living with his wife, Bertha, and son, Tracy, in Oklahoma City. His parents were born in Missouri.
I did not find them in the 1900 Census.
Thank you, that is interesting, he would have been in his mid-twenties when he took this photo. I could not find him in any Missouri census either so I'm guessing they probably relocated to Oklahoma around 1900.
